Average size is 6 cm long X 2.5 cm widht. Their physiology is characterized by a green color that changes when mature to deep red and dark brown when dry, wrinkled texture, spicy.

 Its name comes from the Nahuatl "chilpoctli" which means "smoked chile", a plant native in America. It is one of the most popular chilli in Mexico, used as a condiment in the preparation of sauces, broths & soup such as Chipotle sauce and Tlalpeño soup.
